Common Solis faults
Solis inverters show faults as short alarm messages on the display, such as OV-G-V or NO-Grid, often with a number on the end. Solis’s first step for its alarms is the same: switch the inverter off, wait five minutes and restart it, as the manual describes. If the alarm comes back, the cause needs finding. We install solar and battery systems too, so we know how these faults show up in real homes.
Grid over-voltage
OV-G-V means the grid voltage at the inverter is above its upper limit, so it stops exporting. When the inverter is exporting at full power, voltage rises along the AC cable, and Solis notes that a cable that’s too small can push it over the limit. An occasional alarm clears itself. If it happens often, the grid voltage, the AC breaker and the cabling need checking. Solis says protection limits should only be changed with the network operator’s consent.
Grid under-voltage and no grid
UN-G-V means the grid voltage is below the inverter’s lower limit, and NO-Grid means the inverter can’t detect the grid at all. For NO-Grid, check that the AC isolator and the solar breaker in your consumer unit are on. If they are, the connection needs testing.
Grid interference
GRID-INTF alarms mean the inverter has detected a disturbed or unstable grid. On newer S6 inverters, GRID-INTF without a number is an AC overcurrent inside the inverter. A restart may clear it; if not, the AC connections and the inverter need checking.
Leakage current
ILeak-PRO means too much current is leaking to earth, so the inverter disconnects for safety. Solis notes that alarms that only appear in rain or early in the morning can come from ageing panels. Finding the cause means testing the strings one at a time, which is a job for an engineer.
Repair or replace?

Solis error codes and what they mean
The meanings below come from Solis’s manuals for its 4G and 5G single-phase inverters and its S6 grid and hybrid inverters. The wording varies slightly between generations, and the number on the end tells an engineer which protection was triggered.

When to call an engineer
Call us if you see any of these:
- OV-G-V alarms that happen often, especially on sunny afternoons
- Any ILeak-PRO alarm
- Any alarm that comes back after a restart
- Any message that isn’t in the table
Solis’s manuals say that if an alarm keeps coming back after a restart, the distributor or service centre should be contacted. Testing cables, strings and protection settings is work for a qualified engineer, so don’t open the inverter or disconnect its cables yourself.

What does OV-G-V mean on a Solis inverter?

Can I reset a Solis alarm myself?
Solis’s first step for its alarms is to switch the inverter off, wait five minutes and restart it, following the manual. That can clear a one-off alarm. If the alarm comes back, there’s an underlying cause, and resetting it again won’t fix it.
