In Blackpool and along the Fylde coast — Bispham, Layton, Marton and South Shore, out to Thornton-Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Poulton-le-Fylde and Lytham St Annes — our own engineers install solar PV and battery systems, and repair and service systems fitted by any installer. We install our own systems and repair everyone else’s, so we know exactly how they fail.

Solar in Blackpool
Three Blackpool schools are being funded to go solar.
In November 2025 three Blackpool schools — Blackpool Gateway Academy, Marton Primary Academy and Nursery, and St George’s High School — were approved for cash grants from the Great British Energy Fund to install solar panels, in the hope of cutting their energy bills. They were part of an announcement that 250 schools would benefit from Great British Energy’s expanded scheme, the first major project for the government’s publicly owned energy company, which it is estimated could save schools thousands on their energy bills over their lifetime. Blackpool South MP Chris Webb welcomed the news, saying the investment “will mean less money spent on energy bills, and more resources being directed into educating our children.”
A school roof and a Blackpool semi do the same job: turn daylight into lower bills. If your house in Bispham, Marton or Cleveleys hasn’t got panels yet, start with solar panel installations. If it has, sea air is hard on older systems, and a yearly service checks the fixings, isolators and output, whoever fitted them.

Why L&R
What you get from L&R in Blackpool.
We know Fylde coast roofs
Blackpool’s roofs were shaped by the holiday trade. Streets of Victorian and Edwardian guesthouses and terraces run back from the promenade between North Shore and South Shore, many now split into flats, with tall roofs broken up by dormers, chimney stacks and rear offshoots. Inland, inter-war and post-war semis and bungalows fill Bispham, Layton, Marton and Anchorsholme and carry on through Thornton-Cleveleys and Poulton-le-Fylde, and their simpler roofs take a full array. The coast is the hard part: wind and salt off the Irish Sea work on fixings, frames and isolators, and gulls nest under panels. Plenty of the Fylde’s systems date from the feed-in tariff years and are now ageing.

Questions
The things people ask before they ring.
Not answered here? Call 0800 156 0191, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm.
Do you cover Fleetwood, Poulton-le-Fylde and Lytham St Annes?
Yes. Our engineers cover the whole of Blackpool and the Fylde coast — Thornton-Cleveleys and Fleetwood to the north, Poulton-le-Fylde, Carleton and Hambleton inland, and Lytham St Annes, Kirkham and Freckleton to the south. Call 0800 156 0191 or tell us your postcode in the fault finder and we’ll confirm cover.
Will you repair a system in Blackpool that another company installed?
Yes. We repair and service systems fitted by any installer, including installers who are no longer trading, and we work on any make of panel, inverter or battery. See solar panel repair and inverter repair.
Does the sea air on the Fylde coast damage solar panels?
It can take its toll if a system is never looked at. Salt and wind off the Irish Sea work on frames, fixings, cable joints and roof-top isolators, and salt and sand can film over the glass and cut output. On a new install we choose fixings and cable runs with the coast in mind, and a yearly service checks the whole system and cleans the panels where needed. A house in a conservation area can need planning permission, which we check before the survey.
