Solar panels in Huddersfield — installed, repaired and serviced by one team
In the town and across Kirklees — Lindley, Almondbury and Newsome, up the valleys to Golcar, Marsden and Holmfirth, and out to Dewsbury, Batley and Mirfield — our own engineers install solar PV and battery systems, and repair and service systems fitted by any installer. We install our own systems and repair everyone else’s, so we know exactly how they fail.

Solar in Huddersfield
The University of Huddersfield has added 510 panels to its Queensgate roofs.
In January 2026 the University of Huddersfield said its decarbonisation programme had taken a leap forward, with 510 solar panels installed at the Queensgate Campus late in 2025 in a 232 kW system: 348 on the Barbara Hepworth Building and 162 on the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre. The new panels are capable of generating 203,000 kWh a year and are expected to save 36 tonnes of carbon a year. They join existing arrays on the Laura Annie Willson Building, the Jo Cox More in Common Centre and the Richard Steinitz Building, and across all five buildings the university expects 725,000 kWh a year, or 6 per cent of its annual electricity. Energy Manager Philip Tower said the project “expands our on-site renewable energy generation capacity by approximately 37 per cent.”
A university roof and a stone terrace in Lockwood or Lindley follow the same rule: the panels only pay their way while the inverter behind them keeps working. If your array went up in the feed-in tariff years, a service shows what it is really producing, and if generation has dropped or stopped, inverter repair is usually the fix.

Why L&R
What you get from L&R in Huddersfield.
We know Huddersfield roofs
Huddersfield and Kirklees are stone country. The town has streets of Victorian sandstone terraces in Lockwood, Paddock and Birkby and the big villas of Edgerton, while up the Colne and Holme valleys, in Golcar, Slaithwaite, Marsden and Holmfirth, weavers’ cottages with long rows of upstairs windows sit under heavy stone slate. The valleys are steep, so a hillside roof can lose the low winter sun to the slope opposite, and panel layout matters as much as panel count. Dewsbury, Batley and Mirfield add the brick and stone terraces of the heavy woollen district, and newer estates fill the edges of every town. Pennine rain means moss and grime build up on the glass faster than people expect.

Not answered here? Call 0800 156 0191, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm.
Do you cover Dewsbury, Batley, Holmfirth and Mirfield?
Yes. Our engineers cover Huddersfield and the whole of Kirklees — Lindley, Almondbury and Kirkheaton around the town, Golcar, Slaithwaite and Marsden up the Colne Valley, Holmfirth, Honley and Meltham in the Holme Valley, Kirkburton and Denby Dale to the south-east, and Dewsbury, Batley, Mirfield and Heckmondwike to the north-east. Call 0800 156 0191 or tell us your postcode in the fault finder and we’ll confirm cover.
Will you repair a system in Huddersfield that another company installed?
Yes. We repair and service systems fitted by any installer, including installers who are no longer trading, and we work on any make of panel, inverter or battery. See solar panel repair and inverter repair.
Is solar worth it on a hillside house in the Holme or Colne Valley?
Often, yes. What matters is which way the roof faces and whether the hillside opposite or nearby trees shade it during the hours the panels generate most, and we check that on the survey, including the low winter sun. East- and west-facing roofs still work, and where part of a roof is shaded, panel-level optimisers or microinverters stop one shaded panel dragging the rest down. Stone slate needs the right fixings, and every install is by our own MCS certified engineers. See solar panel installations.
